Barbara has always had an inner passion to help people to get more out of life.

No matter what she was doing in her life, from her years spent in Phys Ed education, via interior design studies and all that computers were and have become, through to her 5 year career with a commercial bank, she always made time to give back to her community in some fashion.

Whether it is her taking part in community events, volunteering efforts or fundraising drives for a favourite cause, her deep seated consciousness for giving back was one of the important pieces of the puzzle for her vision for Changing Gears. These are just a few of the things that make up her core belief that life should be fun and we should all make time to enjoy it.

After facing many of her own Gear Changes, not all of them being in a forward motion, Barbara decided that with an enthusiastic outlook and solid game plan she was going to make life better for Canadian Boomers and their families.

And so Barbara’s 2^nd child (Changing Gears) was born. Many people ask her why she called it Changing Gears. As she had always been an organizer of anything she could get her hands on and always driven a 5 speed, the first thing that came to mind was Changing Gears.

Changing Gears has grown and Barbara is regularly heard commenting on the Gear Changes her business has experienced. “It seems that all over Canada people are giving the New Changing Gears rave reviews, and we will continue to evolve in a direction that meets your needs,” says Barbara.
