Accessibility: ConnectCARE

This year ConnectCARE celebrates 15 years of providing life-saving support to thousands in the Halton region alone.  Owned and operated by Halton Healthcare as a not-for-profit program, revenues are used to sustain the program and to support other Halton hospital programs.

ConnectCARE is a personal response service that is a link to the world, to the hospital and to the community.  The service provides people with help around the clock, with the mere push of a button.

By pressing a small waterproof button which can be worn on one’s wrist, or as a pendant, people with illnesses such as epilepsy and Multiple Sclerosis can call for help.  A two-way speaker allows clients to talk to trained monitoring staff at the hospital who can quickly send the appropriate help.

ConnectCARE is beneficial to people of all ages, whether they are recuperating from surgery, living alone, have a chronic physical or medical condition, or are caring for a family member.

When the alarm goes off and the client does not respond, the alert is treated as an emergency.  All relevant personal and medical information is immediately made available to staff, who then dispatch emergency services.

Prices for the service are kept reasonable and it is accessible to seniors and those on fixed incomes.  For around the price of a cup of coffee a day you can purchase peace of mind for a loved one, or for yourself.
