Accessibility: Loblaws Leads the Way
Loblaws has begun offering an online flyer service about in-store specials to customers who are visually impaired. The Canadian National Institute for the Blind is helping with the service. Loblaw Companies (including Loblaws stores, Zehrs, the Real Canadian Superstore, Provigo and Fortinos) started converting its weekly print flyers into interactive online versions in 2002 for select outlets. For those who are visually impaired, screen reader software with a speech synthesizer will now allow information from the computer screen to be read aloud. Users can select information for their store and view the specials and promotions specific to that location. Customers can also register online for weekly emails containing links to their store’s accessible flyer. |
