Help Spring Clean Your Own Community

In April, volunteers are needed across the country to assist with the promotion, organization, and running of Earth Day events. Earth Day is April 22.  Volunteers make Every Day Earth Day by showing their support and participating, organizing or donating their time and effort to help with environmental protection.

Look in your local paper to see what you can do in your own community.  Visit Earth Day's site for their top 10 suggestions on what you can do to help the environment or in our resource directory under Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover for many other suggestions on how you can make a difference.

Maple Leaves Forever
dedicated to “Restoring the Maple Tree to the Canadian Landscape”.

One of the most widely recognized trees in Canada’s forests is the Maple.  This species produces a variety of valuable wood products, sustains the maple syrup industry and contributes greatly to the carbon balance and the beauty of the rural landscape.

The primary goal of Maple Leaves Forever is the planting of the Maple Tree across Canada.  Since 1965, the Maple Leaf has been the centerpiece of Canada’s national flag.  It has become the most prominent symbol of Canada, nationally and internationally. 

There are several tree planting initiatives across Canada.  Why not plant one of your own maples this year in your own backyard?
