Cooking with Ease: Have more Fun with your Food

Eating in a healthy manner is a great New Year's resolution to make for yourself and your family.  

Here are a few easy tips to help you stick to it:

  • Try a new fruit or vegetable every month.

  • Bring a delicious homemade lunch to work instead of buying something from the food court.

  • Eat healthy during the week and treat yourselves on the weekends.

  • Have Winter Picnics in the family or living room.  Call them make your own pizza or fajitas nights with all of everyone’s favourite fixings.  Bring out the plastic glasses too.  Remember to put out a blanket.
      
  • BBQ more.  Less clean up too.

  • Have an appetizer night and serve with a salad.  This will add flavour to the occasion.
     
  • Keep warm this winter.  Make homemade soups on the weekend.  The leftovers make great lunches.
     
  • Homemade crisp, made easier.  Cheat a little.  Buy frozen fruit and a store bought crust.  

The trick to eating healthy is to feel as if you are not.  

This year why not try to help others as well, by cooking with them and providing companionship to those who may have lost interest in cooking and eating.  This could be a friend, neighbour, or family member.
