Cooking with Ease: Yes, Hot Chocolate

“Chocolate” has become a health buzzword of late.  Studies suggest that the chemical makeup of chocolate improves mood.  But the latest research on chocolate focuses on the antioxidants present in its chemical base.

Here are some interesting facts:

Pure cocoa powder has the most antioxidants, followed by baking and dark chocolate, then milk chocolate.

Milk chocolate has the same amount of antioxidants as a five-ounce glass of red wine.

Most researchers agree that the darker the chocolate, the greater the health benefit.

Chocolate is still high in fat and sugar.  At least now when you indulge in chocolate’s guilty pleasure, you know you are getting more than just calories.

Did you know that hot chocolate is all grown up?  Once thought of as just a children’s drink, hot chocolate is now a connoisseur’s delight served as an indulgent dessert at fine restaurants, as well as in coffeehouses everywhere and in the comfort of cozy kitchens.

Hot chocolate is the ultimate indulgence for anyone who loves chocolate.”
