Fitness: Summer Suggestions for Living Fit and Healthy

Balance and Moderation 

  • Include a moderate amount of exercise in your weekly routine  
  • Eat in moderation  
  • Get outdoors every day  
  • Protect yourself from the sun’s rays  

 Be Consistent with Eating and Exercise 

  • Be active every day  
  • Just 15-20 minutes of activity a day can add up to good health  
  • Commit to your workout, even when the weather is great  
  • One to two workouts per week should keep you in wonderful shape during the summer  

 Drink Water to Avoid Dehydration  

  • Increase your water intake before, during and after exercise  
  • Drink water rather than sugary drinks that can add unnecessary calories   
  • On average drink 8-10 full glasses of water per day  
  • If it is hot and you are exercising, drink more!  

 Balance Your Calories with More Activity or Less Calories 

  • Eat five smaller meals a day to keep your metabolism revved up and energy level high  
  • Avoid eating a big meal in the evening  

.      Grill your food; eat fresh, raw fruits and vegetables

Work out…Even When Traveling  

  • Plan your week if you are traveling to get your workout in, ahead of time  
  • Prepare your meals ahead of time to avoid overeating
  • Think ahead, and you’ll be rewarded with continued good health
