Fitness: Fitness Resolutions with a Changing Gears Flair

Getting into shape is one of the most popular resolutions that people make as the New Year rolls around.  In keeping with this spirit, Changing Gears offers some fun and easy fitness suggestions.  Here’s how to start 2006 with laughter, more energy and a positive outlook on life.

Some suggestions:

  • Have fun and laugh a lot
  • Play outside more
  • Keep your body moving and finding enjoyment in motion

Whether you are enjoying the sight of large, fluffy snowflakes falling to the ground, making snow angels in the snow, or building snowmen with your children or grandchildren, there are huge benefits to outdoor play.

Outdoor play is a form of exercise and just being outside in the fresh air and sunshine always makes us feel better.

“One great resolution is to be a role model for fitness, for your family and friends.  One of the best ways to influence other people is to set a good example.

When your family and friends see you exercising, and notice how much more energetic and vibrant you are, they will want to know your secret.  Tell them what exercise does for you - how your back doesn't hurt anymore or how you've managed to decrease your dress or belt size.  Invite your family and friends to join you in your fitness activities, whatever they may be.

Consider volunteering for charitable events that involve exercise, such as swim-a-thons or walks or runs for cancer, heart disease or arthritis.  It's a great way to meet new friends and do your part as an ambassador for healthy living.” (Good Life Fitness 2005 Calendar)

Fortunate is the man or woman who can appreciate good health as wealth without first having to lose it.

Changing Gears believes in maintaining a positive attitude and works with the best professionals from Halton Region to ensure that you and your family enjoy life without worrying about the changes ahead.
