Homes & Gardens: Notice of Pesticide Use!
The Halton Region Health Department will begin larviciding catch basins on public lands during June and will continue until October 31, 2005, under the direction of the medical Officer of Health, Dr. Bob Nosal. Larviciding of catch basins will begin once monitoring indicates that mosquito larvae are present. Larvicide will be applied by a licensed applicator contracted by the Region. Larvicide will be used to control mosquito larvae in order to reduce the incidence of West Nile virus in Halton. A pellet and/or briquette formula of the larvicide Methoprene, Altosid (registration number 21809 for pellet formula, 27694 for briquette) will be placed in catch basins on public lands in urban areas for Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville For a map of boundaries of treatment areas, please visit Halton Region’s website.
