Are you:

  • Gradually losing your hearing as you get older
  • Do you have a relative who has trouble hearing when in group situations
  • Are you feeling isolated from the community due to communication difficulties

The Hearing Care Counselling Program (HCCP) can help you.  HCCP provides communication and hearing care support services to help persons with a hearing loss to carry out their daily activities.  Priority is given to people 55 years and older.  Younger adults with other disabilities as well as hearing loss, who require home-based services are also eligible.

The following services are provided:

  • During a home visit HCCP will supply information and counseling on issues related to coping with hearing loss
  • Education and training is available to consumers, family members, caregivers and the general public
  • Information about and demonstrations of communication devices such as assistive listening devices, specialized telephones, TTYs, and alerting devices are offered

This service does not include intervention in areas such as language processing, cognition, literacy, ASL training or hearing aid prescription.

To find a HCCP, locate your closest  Canadian Hearing Society office.
