Real Estate: Indulge in a Splash of Colour

People in the design industries and in the gardening landscaping field all realize that the big news for the season is colour.  Combined in many ways, a multitude of colours are taking over, one garden at a time.

Gardeners are becoming adventuresome, confident and unique in what they choose for their own back (and front) yards.  And if the colours don’t look right the first time, home gardeners have no difficulties in moving the plants around or planting different colours next year.

Here are some colour proportion tips to help your garden dazzle…

  • There is a mathematical relationship between colours, with most people liking the following proportions: yellow: 3, orange: 4, red: 6, violet: 9, blue: 8 and green: 6

  • For next year’s spring garden you could plant Orange Monarch early blooming tulips and underplant violet Hyacinth Atlantic

  • You’d want four parts orange tulips to nine parts violet hyacinths

  • Or you could try eight parts blue muscari to three parts yellow, double flowering narcissus

  • Have fun and experiment!
