Jim McDermott, FaithLife Financial  

Jim works for FaithLife Financial as a licensed Fraternal Insurance Counsellor (FIC).  FaithLife Financial offers a variety of financial products including a full range of insurance and investment solutions designed to meet the needs of Canadians and their families who share similar Christian values.  FaithLife Financial is a member-based not-for-profit Fraternal society operating in Canada since 1972.  Presently the Society has over 31,000 members across Canada and more than $417 million invested in its wealth management portfolio.

The following is a little more about Jim’s background and experience.

  • Married for 31 years, father of two, and an active member of his church.

      
  • Graduated from Mohawk College with a three year Business Administration Diploma.

  • Has a broad knowledge of the Canadian tax system having worked for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for over 25 years.

  • Past co-chairperson of the CRA United Way campaign for many years.

  • Has been a member of the Hamilton Leadership Group for over 15 years and presently a member of the Executive Steering Committee.

  • Was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 for making a significant contribution to Canadians through his work at the Canada Revenue Agency, to the community with his fundraising efforts with the local United Way campaigns and his international volunteer work building schools and churches in Haiti.

Barbara Fuller, Ledgers Financial Services

Barbara takes pride in building, life-long relationships with her clients, to meet their individual financial planning needs and to help them achieve their goals.  Her passion is to protect their lifestyle and estate or business with proper insurance planning, including ‘living benefits’, to help them prosper, by recommending investment tools with guaranteed benefit options, and to preserve their estates, with wise estate planning counsel.

Barbara been involved in the area of Financial Planning and Protection for the past 17 years and started her own company working as an independent broker in Oakville, ON.  Her commitment is ongoing education to keep her updated on current trends in the ever-changing insurance and investment world.  She’s qualified as a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table, which is a testimony to her commitment to serve her clients and she is a member of Advocis, the national association for insurance and investment professionals.  Barbara also obtained her ‘Certified Senior Advisor’ certification and has completed the Certified Financial Planner education program.  Her expertise enables her to “help clients experience freedom to achieve their goals and dreams through values-based financial planning”.  

In her spare time, Barbara teaches skiing, plays baseball, rides her bike, rollerblades, sings and likes to work in her garden.  She also has the privilege of being a mother to a beautiful teen-age daughter.

Dan Brewer, Financial Planner, ScotiaMcleod

Dan has held senior positions within the Scotiabank Group since 1997, including that of a Personal Investment Manager. In addition to his practical experience, he has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is a Certified Investment Manager and a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute.  He has been with ScotiaMcleod since November 2000 and was with Scotiabank as a financial planner for the three years prior to this.

Dan is married, with two sons, aged 5 and 7.  He lives in Burlington and enjoys
golfing in his spare time.

Dana Bryant-Giguère, Portfolio Manager, Scotia Bank

As Portfolio Manager with Cassels since 1993, Dana manages Canadian and US resident private client portfolios. Dana's goal is to ensure your financial assets are invested in a manner appropriate and consistence with your financial needs. Dana is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).  

Dana has lived in Clarkson Village, Mississauga, for 10 years, and is married, with a nine year old daughter.  Her hobbies include gardening and cycling.  Her interests include church, school and community fund raising activities.
